Exaggerated, I know, and not against police officers, rather, against systemic systems in the US that create bias. People here act on imbedded impulses they are sometimes totally unaware of, against a disproportionate number of our citizenry.
All cops are bastards
. . .
Many protesters get unfairly arrested for peacefully protesting police brutality.
wtf. Imma bout to get political. Im very political lmao. So basically, Your telling me that a full on criminal gets freed but an innocent child gets arrested? I don't care who you are thats fucked up.
That's the US. A few weeks ago, a six year old boy was arrested for picking a flower at a bus stop thus getting him into the criminal system early on. A couple of years ago, the police actually did take a shooter to get some Burger King after a lengthy standoff where two officers were shot. The boy was brown skinned and the shooter was fair skinned.
It's good to have police that protect and serve but the system is broken. It's not bad police officers, more of a bad sociopolitical system that leans favorably toward the majority than the minority citizenry.
Thats really unfair. I don’t get how a child was being a child, then got arrested, but a SHOOTER gets free food. That shit don’t make sense. We need new police officers and we need to fix the system somehow. :/
it's a vicious circle, I'm not from the USA, but I've seen hours of police body cam and security cam footage on liveleak to see some patterns emerge.
The cops tend to be brutal against black suspects, but way more lenient with white ones, that is a recognizable pattern, but it's only one side of the coin.
The way white and black criminals behave also shows a pattern, white ones like to wave their guns around an threaten everyone, they are often talked out of it by the police, most black suspects are sneaky, I've seen them being all cool and relaxed, then suddenly pull out and shoot at wild west speed.
One side explains the other, and it's a chicken/egg situation.
Black criminals know the police might kill them on sight or plant drugs on them, so they keep their cool and wait for a chance to shoot and try to escape, cops know black suspects are most likely to suddenly shoot and run, therefore they are jumpy and shoot them at the first jerky move.
Every interaction increases the hate, there's no easy way out.
Yeah and my brother in law was biking with his white friends and he gets to be interrogated by the police because he's the one who happens to look like a criminal suspect. Or the dodgy black guy who sneakily informed the police that he had a legal handgun and that he wasn't reaching for it while the police officer shouted conflicting demands, hand's up, get out of the car, don't move...BLAM BLAM BLAM.
@Sabandija Did you happen to catch the video of the white guy who got out from underneath two officers, beat on them with their baton, got into a police vehicle and drove off? He wasn't maced repeatedly. He wasn't executed for attempting vehicular homicide.
Generalizing an entire population based on the actions of a portion of that population is how our social system has become broken. Brown skin=dangerous. Brown skin=not reliable. My mother in law advised my wife, who has way better credit, that a mortgage should be in my name. And, unfortunately, it is true. Home loans favor fair skin.
Yeah... like I said, the police system is broken and VERY unfair, but hey, the cop that killed george flloyd(?) is being sentenced 7-8 weeks from now. There’s some good cops though. The bad cops are just giving them a bad name though. So we shouldn’t COMPLETELY defund them. Nobody makes sense, really, it doesnt matter what sexual orientation, race, or what fandom you’re in, a person is still a person.
Just to be clear, I'm not justifying cops shooting innocent people just because they have dark skin. I don't think any decent human being would. I just said I saw patterns among armed suspects, and I understand (UNDERSTAND, not JUSTIFY) the fear on both sides, I never said that every single case is the same or that there are no innocen victims of racist murderers with a badge.
But when someone claims "all cops are bastards" they are making the same kind of broad assumption that racists do.
I agree the police system is broken, no doubt, but I don't think every single police officer is a power tripping racist.
You have a point, still though, like you said, not EVERY cop is bad. The bad ones are the ones giving the actual, decent cops a bad name. I really hate that. My uncle was a part of the navy, and he gets evil glares, he is a good person, but it’s because of the cops like george ffloyds(?) murderer give people like good cops bad reputations. The world is messed up, really.
I didn't generalize the police as being all bad, just how our society is fractured. I also wasn't comparing one armed suspect to another armed suspect. Threat perception is unjustly skewed and the vetting/training of police in this country isn't as stringent as it should be.
I know you didn’t. I also agree with the training part. Also with Sabandijas part about the patterns of suspects. I have nothing left to say, sorry :/
(I really should speak up more, but i can’t find words to speak most of the time...)
Not all cops are bastards it’s just some right now here in America are abusing there power and making all Americans think all cops are bad because of these poor acts this only lies in the small population of the police forces but yes there are some genuinely bad people hurting the police forces out there.

I like that one black guy who was being real dodgy in his own apartment eating a fucking bowl of cereal before he was murdered by a drunk cop.
