The earth burned, and it burned. The flames grew constantly throughout the days. Then, the fighters arrived. However, the flames grew to an outrageous size and blocked their path. This stopped them in their tracks. They couldn’t get through, so they prayed. They prayed for the souls stuck in the flames.
Soon, the prayers stopped. The screams began. They screamed, and they screamed, and screamed for days, weeks on end! Soon, the fire died down. The rain started. Soon, the floods happened. The waters raised, and then the whole problem stopped. The water went away. The fires died down to ashes. The whole world just... stopped. Nothing happened for a while. Then, HE arrived.
He arrived in the new town of the survivors. He offered them a nice little trinket, the, “Chalice Of Killers” as he called it. He said that this special chalice could steal ones Pain. But, after using it to its final stage of its life, it eventually runs out of life, and takes yours.
The strange man wandered the wastelands for years before he eventually arrived at my town. He tried to sell his chalices in the town, but he failed except for one. He sold one to me, and instead of making me into a giant monster, it turned me into this small, pointed round thing. This made me wonder, maybe it only affects certain people. He invited me to join him in his quest to help the world fix itself. I asked him what he meant by that. His response was that the giant monsters, after being destroyed, would explode into a giant blast of energy that would help everything around it grow at an extreme rate. The giant monsters, after winning, would destroy other creatures by splitting into pieces and beating itself to death. Thus, we named the creature-phenomenons “Regrowth periods” and these regrowth periods would occasionally happen during another period, and occasionally 4 monsters would do a team fight, and destroy the others. These would sometimes be watched by survivors, and these fights are known as “collides.” These “collides” are normally dangerous, but if it’s just one of the monsters splits to make itself a challenger, it’s not dangerous to watch. When these monsters split to fight themself, it’s called a “breaking point.” These breaking points are special, but common.
Sometimes people will try to fight these creatures, these beasts. These people are fools. The strange tradesman, whose name I just learned, is trying to find the ultimate treasure of all. The destroyer of chalices. This bracelet is able to destroy the abilities of beasts. This bracelet turns corrupted humans from beasts back to humans. However, sometimes the person’s body is too far gone, and they just stop moving. They corrupt and turn into small human sized statues. Every time they shrink and corrupt to stones, they blast the leftover force out in an energy blast. Thus, statues are often found in bunches inside forests.
The trader, joem, has told me that he was once tricked by another strange wanderer, to light a specific location on fire, but one beast encountered him and ended up stepping on the fire and catching a small house on fire.
Joem had told me that he tried to stop the giant creature, but before he could, it split into 16 and then into 16 more for each 16th. The multiples eventually exploded into giant fiery waves. Soon, certain beasts started to absorb water from the ocean and multiplied. These caused the flood. Then, the one last giant beast arrived. This giant creature is rumored to be over 300 feet tall, and it supposedly punched a hole straight through the atmosphere with enough force to suck all the water out of the world. This beast soon was destroyed by using its force blast to get rid of the last water and fix the atmosphere.
These strange holes left over by the patch will on occasion open up and allow challengers from other planets to come. These “otherworlders” (others for short) are around the same size as the regrowthers, or the beasts, whichever people call them. Joem and I are going to the next town over soon. He’s acquired some new wares and has been trying to find another town to sell in, since the last one threw us out. (Well, him out, and I just left with him.) this town we are approaching, trainsville, is an old train depot they just opened for housing, and soon the whole thing became a little town. The whole thing was enclosed with enforced gate doors, and you need a good reason to approach the place rather than no reason and get shot.
Joem reminded me to write down the things he told me a few hours ago. Sometimes, humans like I used to be, will be injected with the chalices juice and be warped but gain ultimate strength and a new form. These are known as sub-normals. Joem has decided that starting tomorrow he’s gonna stop traveling with his cloak on. He traded it to someone for an entire van’s worth of trinkets and items. He’s made himself a hat and stitched in one of the things he received from the van guy. I think that he called it the “quantum-gravitational flux-influencer” or something? He said that it can bend reality, so he’s storing everything in the hat for safe keeping.
So, as I found out, joem is looking for someone. He, too was warped by the chalice in his quest to find this person. I think that they are part of his family, maybe a cousin or sibling? He’s technically a ghost so he can phase through walls if he puts his mind to it. Each sub-normal has an ability they can activate when they want. Joem has the ability of SPECTRE. This gives him the powers of typical ghosts, but also specters. He can float, phase and possess. That’s it. My ability is Wild Card. It allows me to call hands from the air and select from the element deck for powers. I like the diamond sub-class, as it let’s me put up indestructible barriers, while spade makes me shoot seeker arrows out. Heart allows me to heal, and club allows me to practically cancel abilities. I can make joem get stuck in a wall mid phase by using clubs. Heart and diamond are the most useful though.
Joem’s hat. His ability affects anything he touches, thus the hat can phase through walls. He’s done it for me on special occasions, and his phase smells like marshmallows and chocolate. This always makes me hungry, so we put snacks in the hat to be safe. The hat rejects certain foods like marshmallow, chocolate, bread, and a lot of fish. It allows flatfish, so we made fried fish flat cakes. Meats and cheeses are allowed, and so we had bacon and cheese omelets. Delicious breakfasts are had, and great lunches too. Sometimes a certain merchant will travel with us, and we made a deal with him. Joem and I make breakfast using what we have, and he makes lunch and gives us a few ingredients for later. He often goes hunting, so whatever’s left is what he uses.
He has a weird hat. It looks like a top hat with a bowler hat on top. He, referring to the meal merchant. He often gives us the meals and ingredients in boxes and bags, as he is made of a toxic sludge, but he cal de-toxin something. If he detoxins himself, he becomes a rock-hard surface, but it only lasts for a couple of minutes. Thus, he constantly detoxins himself, and that takes strength out of him. He often sleeps from 8pm to 10am. Thus, he has a quick breakfast with us, and then wakes up by making a nice lunch out of toxic but edible materials, then sucking the poison out for energy. This gives him the strength to conquer the day. Kinda like using a battery to charge the same battery. Joem taught me that today. He says learning is important, but he keeps teaching me about how to use Wild Card to my advantage, but he’s not that good. I’m thinking of trying a new strategy of attacking with the spade deck, but tomorrow we arrive at trainsville, and we might have some actual businesses to do. So I can’t go out and train unless joem can somewhat manage to actually function as a member of society. I hope he doesn’t do his usual thing.
Joem did his usual thing of helping the meal merchant out with making, as he calls it, “Spiked ramen.” This creation of his consists of normal ramen and a whole lot of wine. He’s decided I’m at the age where I can have some, but then they ate it all, so I didn’t get to have any to try. The wine soaks into the noodles and the broth, so it’s just one giant unhealthy mess.
Now Joem is doing his thing of trying to get up. He gets his left leg out of the blanket, then his right, while twisting, and then he has to untie himself, and I still don’t understand how lifting your legs and twisting can tie you up, and then when he unties himself he has to get up finally, and then he finally stands up and then he usually crashes to the floor, but today he just stood. I think he slept most of the ramen off. I’m not sure.
I finally trained Wild Card, and now I can summon around 8-10 pairs of hands. With 4 pairs of hands the healing hearts take around thirty seconds to fix even a shattered bone. The 10 pairs can send an entire army’s worth of arrow bolts with the spade deck. The shields are able to be stacked to grow them to the next size up, and I think that I can protect myself with multiple shields in a block formation. Joem says that there was a group of people in a place called Rome who did that. Shields in a block with extra long spears to help with defense. They must have been the smart ones. I’m gonna try to use the spade deck with a pair of gloves to make a spear or crossbow. Who knows? Shield teepee disguised with sticks and leaves, crossbow sniping spot.
So, last night we entered trainsville. And immediately joem was caught in a trap and questioned. He was stopped, questioned, and immediately released, on showing them his ID. I think he used to work here or something? The city’s pretty nice and it’s nit hard to get food or sleep, but...
Joem’s being weird. Like, more weird than usual. He’s started talking in his sleep, stalking around the ally-ways, and I once found him stuck on top of a building. He says that we shouldn’t stay here too long, and that something big is coming. I think he’s crazy, but he might have seen something he shouldn’t have. Whatever, as we were gonna leave tomorrow anyway.
So, trainsville was actually on the back of a giant beast that looked like the old animal... what did he call it? A crab? Something like that. It got up and walked away after we left. Joem told me he saw one of its eyes the first night we were there. So, we’re back on the road again. He found some cool trinkets there so now we have more wares to sell.
Now, we haven’t been traveling too long since the whole incident at trainsville but now we have encountered another town. Joem thinks it’s too good to be true, but I don’t believe him entirely. He’s been trying to train SPECTRE, but it hasn’t been working. Maybe that’s what has been making him talk in his sleep, but who knows? He talks in another language in his sleep, but he doesn’t ever remember it. I wrote down what it sounded like, I’m gonna talk to him about it soon. Maybe tomorrow. I don’t know.
So, as it turns out, joem’s special sleep language is actually a language where he can talk to the beasts. He seems to get information out of them because they can see over trees and mountains. He knows of one, he keeps talking to this one specific beast. I think he called it goat?
Goat is pretty chill. He dropped us off at a new town, and then walked off. He’s a nice guy, but I still don’t know about others. He told us he was gonna fight another beast today, so I hope that goes well for him. He’s too nice of a person/beast to be killed by another beast who just sees him as an enemy. We arrived at the port via the map we got at the town goat dropped us off at, and we found a giant squid-like beast there. It didn’t let us pass, but it dropped us off at the other port.
We stole a boat via joem phasing through and stunning the guy, I guess his training worked, and then stealing the keys. The boat we took is pretty fast, but there’s a few islands nearby and I’m not sure where we are heading. Maybe we’re going to the hole from the first punch and going through the world to the other side? I’m not entirely sure. Maybe the boat can go underwater? If it can the hole idea doesn’t seem too far-fetched.
So, the boat we stole is a submarine, as joem called it. It can go underwater safely. Apparently it’s gonna get us through the whole Hole in a few minutes. Hopefully, this plan doesn’t go to the dogs, and fail. I’m pretty sure that there’s a whole city of hole dwelling eel-people in the HOLE to the other side, but I’m not very sure.
We ended up going through the HOLE after a few hours of searching for it, and we found the city. You won’t find it anymore, as the eel people destroyed it looking for the amulet of water. We took it, of course. My Wild Card is maturing, and so is joem’s SPECTRE. I’m pretty sure he can possess objects now, and I can mix decks using one hand for one deck and the other for the second deck. If I use the club deck and the diamond deck, I’m able to shatter the shields for projectile shards. Imagine a shard of orange glass shooting through the sky faster than a bullet and slamming into the wall beside you and breaking the wall. If spade and club mix, I can make a sharpshooting handgun with chaser bullets.
So, abilities can be mixed if the users are equally matched in power. If joem and I use a combo, it turns into a gigantic ghost that can shoot arrows. The arrows are poisoned too. They make you sick to your stomach, then you sleep it off for around 9-10 hours.
The earth burned, and it burned. The flames grew constantly throughout the days. Then, the fighters arrived. However, the flames grew to an outrageous size and blocked their path. This stopped them in their tracks. They couldn’t get through, so they prayed. They prayed for the souls stuck in the flames.

woah wtf wth that's a lot of words
Yeah and it’s only chapter/book 1 so far
